Interplast is continuously involved in the research and development of new formulations and the improvement of existing ones to make them more efficient and has now expanded its development to Halogen Free Flame Retardant (HFFR) cable compounds. HFFR compounds are a relatively new class of materials, finding increasing use as a replacement for PVC and other halogenated polymers for applications where lower smoke and lower acid gas evolution are required during fire situations. This could be in an underground or overground railway, airport, ship, offshore rig or in any other public building or space.
HFFR Compounds have the following characteristics:
- Low smoke generation
- Flame Retardant
- Non-corrosive gases
Very good dielectric properties Recyclability - Especially if security of people and protection of values are of concern the use of HFFR compounds is requested.
FR Compounds: Due to increasing safety requirements and new future-proof technologies in the fields E-Mobility and Public Transportation, flame retardant materials gain more and more importance. Interplast supports the markets with a customized portfolio of flame-retardant products with the latest technologies.
Flame Retardant (FR) plastics are essential to devices we use every day, providing a valuable tool in fire prevention. In order for fire to occur, three basic elements must exist: fuel, heat, and oxygen. The science of flame retardance uses chemical reactions to moderate one or more of these fire elements.
